GT5: The Countdown Begins!

Oh my sack! Have you seen the X1 Prototype (Red Bull Racing)? Awesome.

X1 Prototype

I may buy a PS3 just for this.

"In a world where modern professional racing is restricted by regulations, the X1 is a machine born from a fantastic "what if" dream of Gran Turismo: "What would the fastest racing car on Earth, free of any and all regulations, look like?" And the only way to experience it is in Gran Turismo 5.

Initially the X1 Prototype was a single-seater canopied prototype wing car with covered front wheels. Powered by a 1500ps direct-injection V6 Twin Turbo, on paper the performance would have been spectacular, producing a top speed of 400km/h (248.6mp/h) and a maximum lateral acceleration of 6G. But once Red Bull Racing was brought on board to be a partner, the X1 really took off.
...
Its new top speed was 450km/h (279.6mp/h), with a maximum lateral acceleration reaching up to 8.75G, pushing the vehicle to the very limits of what a normal human body can withstand. As a comparison, this is more Gs than a fighter pilot feels during full afterburner, and more than astronauts experience during a shuttle liftoff.

The driver who performed the shakedown test of the virtual machine inside Gran Turismo 5 was the world famous Sebastian Vettel. In his very first run on a virtual recreation of the Suzuka Circuit, he beat the record time for the course by over 20 seconds. And in the test drive on the Nurburgring GP Course, he marked a record time of 1 minute 4 seconds, drawing out the incredible potential of the X1 Prototype.
...
Engine:
Type: V6 Twin Turbo (Direct Injection)
Engine Displacement: 3000cc
Maximum Output: 1106.0kw (1503.8ps) / 15000rpm *1483hp
Maximum Torque: 714.1Nm (72.9kgf*m) / 12000rpm

Performance data:
0-60mph: 1.4sec
0-120mph: 2.8sec
0-200mph: 6.1sec
Maximum Speed: Over 280mph (450km/h+)
Maximum Longitudinal or Lateral Acceleration at 300km/h: 8.25G

First read about it a few weeks ago. Does indeed look amazing.

http://www.gtplanet.net/555000-copies-of-gt5-for-france-new-launch-party-date/

I don’t have any specific updates about the GT5 disc revealed yesterday, but that hasn’t stopped quite a few interesting tidbits from bubbling up around the world. First up, word from “distribution sources” indicate more than half a million copies of Gran Turismo 5 are headed to France. More specifically, there will be 450,000 standard copies, 100,000 Collector’s Editions, and 5,000 Signature Editions available in the country. (Amazon.fr is still taking SE reservations, so hop on that if you’re interested.)

Also, GT5’s big Madrid launch party has a new date of November 24th/25th. As you may recall, the launch party was first scheduled for October 26th/27th. Considering the party was to be held exactly one week before the game’s intended worldwide launch, a release during the week of November 29th – December 3rd is beginning to look extremely likely. This release window aligns perfectly with what I’ve been told before and Sony’s own retail outlet, SonyStyle, who lists a launch date “on or around” November 30th for the game. Regardless, it’s becoming clear we don’t have much longer to wait.

/informs python I pre-ordered the Signature Edition on Kalahari :p

Have you ever pre-ordered from Kalahari before? I wonder what their delivery times are like for such things.. I pre-ordered the Signature Edition from BT Games for R27 more, mostly because I knew I could pick it up 9am sharp on the release date.

I pre-ordered Black-Ops from them, they debited my account yesterday. If you're in a "main centre" you will get it on the release day, got my black ops 30min ago

Good service then. I'll definately consider them in the future. GT5 is the one game I want to have the very first minute possible though lol. Glad I went with BT Games.
