GTA IV Question

My work colleague says that his wife told him that you can steal cars and rape woman in GTA IV. I cannot believe this, I know stealing cars is part of the game but I haven’t played the game yet so I couldn’t comment. I know that what his wife knows about consoles is scary; she might now where the power button is.

I personally don’t think they would put something like raping in the game. See this is how rumours start and peolpe work themselves up and say games are bad, but they don’t have all the facts.

It's also not really stealing, it's like borrowing for a mission.

And nah, they have tamed down the chick scenes, my 10 year old says its not nearly as cool as Vice city.

There is no rape or violence against women in the game.

YOu do kill people and steal cars and threaten people with violence though... It is rated 18 for a very valid reason

optional dude, the above is all optional, like in real life.
If you want, you can just drive around peacefully and admire the views, or if the mood takes you, go for a sunset dip in the ocean.
And then take Michelle for a quick game of bowling...wheres the violence in that?

I can't wait for my copy, getting it end of next week from the in-laws (flying from Asia). About R400 , not this rip off price from our SA suppliers. But that's something for another thread topic.

No way. Rape is more like torture. It's an horrific thing the memories of which the victims have to bare their whole lives, never mind the social impact.

By comparison, if you're dead, you don't really care anymore . . .


As for GTA4, I find it a lot less gratuitous than the previous versions, kind of like it's trying to grow up.

You do. But I suspect far more women would rather live. Getting raped (man or woman) doesn't mean that you cannot still have a great life. In the end, you can choose to give that much power to your attacker or not. I have had this discussion with women in my family and our conclusion s that if any of us get into this situation, do whatever is required to survive. Thats the important thing.

Reminds me of the scene in "Erik the Viking" when he rushes into the room where a guy is about to rape a women and he stabs the guy in the back but it goes tight through and kills the women as well. Her dying word : " Thanks for saving me from a fate worse than death".

But this is too serious and depressing for a gaming thread. Belongs with the Doom & Gloom crown in the news section.

i have not seen children either and no you cannot rape anyone in the game.

although it is restricted 18 yrs or older for a reason. ie the strip club and prostitute scenes er... and the violence.

Yea I know Rockstar had to change the game for the Australian market in SA, removing the "sex game" but you got a patch for it, goverment probably wanted sheep, but the people want the chicks

OZ is pretty strict on game control..

Not sure what you are talking about. I don't have the Australian version, and pretty sure no one else in SA does either. Ours isn't censored.

We might have the Aus version, but more likely the UK version.

The way to tell, is pick up a hooker, if the camera locks high above the car as opposed to being able to move it around - it's the Aus version.
