Hi there guys 1stly I have a 4mb telkom adsl line, a local ping of 7-21ms but most of the time it's under 20ms my EU ping is 217ms, US ping is 247ms I also have 0% packet loss I have no lag problems on any other PS4 game, even on GTA.

The problem only occurs when the public session is full by the way my NAT is Type 2 and I connect via ethernet. So is this normal guys? Any of you experience this aswell on a packed session?

Where are you located? Johannesburg?
Does the issue happen with all servers? Are you playing on console or PC?
Can you post a tracert/line stats. Have you tried another ISP? Does it only happen at certain times?
Your US ping seems really low, I get about 300+ms and I am in Cape Town (this is a good thing for you, just makes me wonder if it is a connection problem or if it lies with your/servers device).

I'm in durban, it only happens on a full GTA online session but other than that, it's perfect.

All my other games run perfect with no lag I'm guessing it's just the games server when it's full, probably can't handle it.

You need a diamond reinforced CAT6a cable for the best latency. I bought mine from Amazon for ÂŁ600 and I have the best ping pong in game and I'm the best gamer I can be

Can I get that anywhere in durban? Makro?

Do you guys know of a way that I could get NAT 1 via my router? But I'm not even sure that'll make a difference.. cause to me my latency seems fine. Do you guys play GTA V? I'm on PS4

I want to enable dmz on my router, what do I put as host guys? My router ip?

Just a note, GTAO uses a peer to peer system so if you say it lags in a full session, it is possible the host you are connecting to that is causing it [their upload is getting saturated?].

To further test this theory, host a lobby by going into a closed friend session and hopefully you have enough friends to join and fill it up. If there is still lag, something is up and it isn't the international host. See below for where to get accounts to test.

I play on PS3 and i get no trouble on smaller lobbies but more often i get kicked and put alone [apparently the system does this if it thinks you will lag the session? dunno read a comment on reddit saying this] but anyway, i mostly host a session with my cousin and it is more or less smooth sailing.

I won't lie, because of exchange congestion so playing at night is out of the question, i have a more stable connection via Telkom Mobile 3G.

Don't beat yourself up about NAT and DMZ. If it works fine in other games, it isn't your config. Lastly, test with the free 1GB accounts from Webafrica,Afrihost,Axxess,CrystalWeb and if possible MWEB.

One last thing, try setting your DNS server on the PS4 to Primary: 8.8.8.8 & Seconday to 8.8.4.4 to see if anything improves and this can be found under your network settings on the PS4. It helped my cousin.

I've also experienced massive lag on Afrihost uncapped. Cancelled it today and switching to Crystalweb capped at the end of April. I think it might have been a shaping issue with AH. Will report back after I've tested Crystalweb. Just out of curiosity, how much bandwidth does GTAO use on average?
