I KNOW there is already a thread similar to this one, but I want a final answer as to whether gta 4 can be played on a LAN with 2 pc's ie NOT ONLINE but LAN.

Please someone please answer me as I have read a whole bunch of info and I cant find any solid yes or no.

I already have this game on xbox so the only reason I want to buy it for PC is if I can play on LAN.

You're welcome,I play it often over Lan,even at work me and a friend often play at lunch hehe.

That's good to hear. I definitely was not willing to pay R400 for it if I couldn't play LAN but now I think its gonna be worth it.

BTW does one have to validate it online before playing LAN? Like COD world at war?

Stevovo if you are looking for a brand new sealed copy, my friend would like to sell his, pm me for details if you are intrested :)

You have to validate the game, even if you want to play singleplayer. You will also need the latest windows live and I would strongly recommend the patch as well.

Oh ok. I thought it was gonna be huge considering all the problems everyone was complaining about :D

I also thought so,but people were exaggerating about all the problems in my opinion.

Dude, if you have a pc like mine and can't set everything to highest, then you can complain. :D

GTA4 still doesn't detect my 2gig vga ram...

Do you only have to validate the game once off after you install it? Or is it a case of every time you play? Reason I ask is cause I don't have net at home. . . But if I bought a copy and took it to mate's place to validate once off?

Scruff304 - Its a once off validation, after that you can play offline. I had a friend come to my house to validate his game because of the same reason.

Sharkbait - You do have a reason to complain, but some people didnt buy the game because of this and it is not that bad. Yes you and I couldnt play the game on the highest settings, but at least we could play the game.

Dont forget that you also need Service pack 3 to run the game stevovo.

What is so special about sp3?

I have the latest nvidia drivers already though (181 or something along those lines) so I'm safe there. I don't have sp3.

Oh well, guess I'll have to go and waste some of my bandwidth now. * curses telkom *
