You can say that again!! I went through 1.5GB in 1 day constantly playing this game...
Acutally im wanting to get a big Local game going, like with 8 peeps or so. Free mode is fun though.

Trying to play this game internationally is useless - lag is a game killer. That is why playing it locally is awesome.

I'm heavily addicted to Free Mode - It gives the game another feel vs Deathmatch.

They can't. GTA IV does not work that way. No dedicated server options as such. :(
 
How are you playing it locally then? Soz, but I haven't been able to give the online a bash.

Maybe I missed something, can you guys please share the steps with me that you followed to be able to play online. Maybe in my excitement I missed something.

I installed the game, registered for the social club. Got a gamertag, linked it on the social club, downloaded GFWL, and that is where I am stuck. Can't log in on GFWL. I have got multiple Windows live accounts registered with different gamertags... None work.

After I started the game & quit all other apps & opened my firewall, in the main menu I pressed the "HOME" button on the keybord. Then I proceeded to log into my live account - it'll run the new game patch when you log in now. Cannot remember if it restarted my pc or not. In any case, after you are in the game, press the UP button, head to the menu to Multiplayer. 3 Options should appear. Under option 1 or 2 should be an option to host/create a game. Do that. Then press HOME again and add a few friends to your friends list - then invite them to join your game. :D
 
I dont understand how ppl can riune such a nice game... People are cheating like you cant believe in this game... The should of had something like PunkBuster or something FFFFSSS:mad:

These okes (Specifically European dudes, I get no lag so I play internationally) are spwning cars, Shooting Rockets out of a SMG and flying with boats... This just ruined the game for me. I have no intentions of playing this game online anymore. These f*cking mod bafoons are the scum of gamers!
 
Agreed, I think if someone does this on the local games, he should be banned somehow... Isn't there like a "kick" command when you host a game?
 
Yip u can kick, but the hosts are more than willing to keep the modders on the server so they can also get exclusive hax. Sooo sad, im still so angry :mad: Too scared to even go out the house with this mood. I think im just gonna not play this game Multiplayer no more. Single player more than forfulling.

Woah there mate. Remember you are not playing on official servers but on a server hosted by someone. That someone has the right to set the rules on his own hosted games. You are but just a guest and have to abide by those rules. Just the other day we were playing together in free mode and just messing around. One of the players tried out the mods and it was heck loads of fun! We even kicked those that did not play by the "rules" (noobs playing deathmatch in free form mode) even though not everyone understood each other. Then later we changed over car chasing, removing the mods and just having fun. Mods have a place if governed correctly.

If you don't like it, move to another server, report the user using the in-game report system or kick them from the server.
 
I understand that completely. I think what started my whole angryness is I wasnt inlcuded so I was being targeted. That made me angry. Neway watever im done. lol
