Gtalk tripping balls

Ok so firstly my gtalk tray icon wouldnt refresh, so i closed gtalk and reopened and now where the gtalk icon is meant to be its blank, but i can still use the functionality of that blank icon ?:confused:
 
I've had similar issues. Have you tried reinstalling it?
