GTX 570 broken?

My 970 should be arriving this week. If you want you can borrow my 570 but I am a bit far away here in the Windy City :p

So far everything is running OK after nuking the GPU chip and RAM chips four times with the heat gun; my trusty eVGA GTX 570 is working again.

Thanks for all the info and tips (and 90 minutes of youtube video's).

Well one thing I have noticed, is the fan profile is very conservative and I used EVGA precisionX and made sure temps never went over 65 odd degrees. You might need to remove the lit on the GPU,before attempting a reflow again.MY 570GTX is in a development PC and constantly busy with photoshop and 3D applications and survived the summer we had, However I do have two backup GPU's in case things go south 6870 and a 7870.

It is still a hit and a miss with a reflow and might require a couple of reflows to make sure the solder crack melts again. That said a cheapie is going to set you back at least 600 odd, still less then attempting another reflow or two ;)

I am on the hunt for a cheapy. That way I can still do the basics while I wait.

If I attempt another reflow I would have to get new thermal compound, alcohol (maybe medical alcohol will work too) and a lot of patience.

I can give you a 7600GT if you're happy with just desktop usage, it's really no good for gaming.
