Hi there. Is it possible to SLI A GTX280 and GTX285 or must all be a GTX285 now?

Thanks

As far as I understand you can SLI them, the SLI will drop to the speed of the slowest card.

Why not sell the 280 and get another 285?

well It's not worth selling the GTX280. I rather get a GTX285 and keep my GTX280. Have anyone tried SLIing these 2. Some google searches telling me that it can't be done.

After a google it appears I was wrong. What you can do is SLI 2 cards that are the same even if they have different core/mem speeds. They will drop to the speed of the slowest.

The cards must be the same model. Another thing that slipped my mind is that the 280 is 65nm and the 285 is 55nm.

yip its the different die size..thats why you cant SLi them..with ATi though you can x-fire cards that have different memory (eg. 4870 512mb with a 4870 1gb & it would work!)

thanks for the help. will maybe save up some money for my next system and get something huge
