GTX480 Issue

95? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Surely this is way to high, wat is the load temp from the factory and if much lower look at your case configuration
 
If its now at 95 and you got problems at 96 I think its time to do something about it, card wont last long at that temp
 
My gtx570 regularly sees 90+ in more demanding games, it idles at around 40 and the fan and heatsink gets a good clean every few months.

They are old hat though so you cannot really compare with the newer cards. I still want to slap a water cooler onto mine one day...
 
Sadly those GTX480 with the stock cooler was like a room heater. It had a poor cooling system.

Replaced mine with one of these and that really did the job:

GTX400 series was designed to be hot and powerful, max thermal temp on a 480 is 105C

Do you have MSI afterburner installed or do you let the drivers control the fan?

The drivers run the fan, I should actually get afterburner again though.
