13 grand for a video card? seriously?

i am honestly flabbergasted.

R13k ain't even that much! The Quadro cards cost way more! eg. Quadro 6000 @ R50k !

You get pretty much what you pay for with that card in terms of performance. Although, now with the AMD HD7990 (also dual GPU) card being out at around R10k, I'd rather take that if I was going for it for value for money.

I think it's scary how expensive graphics cards have become, I will never spend R2500 on a graphics card again, I am so disappointed in it's performance I expected much more. These days R1500 is like mid range and R2500 is high mid range, in AMD cards.

Any sensible gamer would get a GTX 660 or 670, depending on their budget. The diminishing returns on investment are brutal as you spend more.

you see i can understand that as its mainly for business use thus you generate revenue out of the money you have spent

If you order it from Europe its much cheaper: 10 500 for the card + shipping + duties and import fees from Amazon.co.uk

dude at 10 grand at the least it's not exactly helping my price shock

Given that is is two GK104 cores with 2GB RAM apiece and a huge 512-bit bus, its not that shocking. What were you expecting, that it'd be cheaper than two single cards? Two GTX680s with the same clocks are around R5500 each (more for the versions that overclock well and don't have blower coolers). You're paying a little extra for the PEX bridging chip, the cooler and the engineering that's gone into it. Also:

GIGABYTE GTX690 4GB DDR5 @ R11,897

There are cheaper versions out there. Its not that much of a ripoff when you take into account what you're getting.

I'm glad I'm not a gamer at all.

Why? You can get an awesome PC (27" LED, Core i5, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD, GTX 660 etc.) for around R20k and an entry level gaming PC for half that. Or you can buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 and some games for half the price of an entry level gaming PC and never have to worry about upgrading. There are many awesome games out there and you're just missing out.

I use Tapatalk on this forum because the MyBB forum website makes it difficult to stay on top of your conversations. So I can't see your sig.
