Guess that car

Ok, I'm back, been without phone/internet for the day?

Are we still guessing that badge? USA?

OK, that only gives you 100 years to play with!! :D

Mercury it is - try 1950 and post away!! ;)

Pooor vehicle.

Bloody Aussies - cannot live without a Ute!! :D

Actually if you are going to tow with a 68 Jag 420, I guess this is the way to do it!! ;)

Well according to the internet :D it has to do with the rear body shape. Type S was based on the Mk II but the rear was restyled like the Mk X. Lines, roof height & wheel arches were different.

I looked but I can't see the difference :D

Nee boet, the internet has it wrong!! :D

That was my dad's S Type - we left the spokes on our Mk2, unfortunately! :(

Your dad had taste... my dad inflicted his choice in cars on us.

Which reminds me... in JHB there is a Vintage Vehicle Club (V.V.C.) that meets every month and members bring their classic oldies along. I once saw a mint condition S-type there like your dad's... beautiful, perfect condition... sounded heavenly.

Also displayed was a mint condition merc...

BUT, the owner had hacked a larger rectangle into the dash and mounted a Hi-Fi Corps. special DVD front loader in the thing. :wtf: I cried for weeks.

I can happily say that our S Type only has a 1967 Blaupunkt radio that was fitted in Durban, just before we took delivery:D

Idiots who fit modern radios to classic cars should be shot - in my 68 Wolseley we drive around listening to the glorious sound of the straight 6 - 3 litre engine - there is a small piece of walnut that can be removed from the middle of the dash to add a wireless but then one would have to drill a hole in the mudguard for an aerial and that would be sacrilege!! :p
