There is 9 decoders altogether if i am correct now. Two dishes one with a single lnb and the other is with a four point lnb with four cables i think running from it. Sorry that i am not precise on the details. I just had a quick look at it. The cables run into a multiswitch to where they are connected in an extraview setup.

What is wrong is that for the first few channels from the first few decoders i get a very bad signal. From channel five or six i think upwards the signal is good. Why is that? And how can i fix it?

Thanks

Gerrit, are you talking about the signal at the screens? Do you have snowy picture on those decoders? This has nothing to do with the dish or switch, but with the RF launch amp and the network. You actually need a proper channelised amplifier and a correct network design (taps/splitters) for a system like this. Also, guesthouses are not allowed to use XtraView, but have to use the commercial hospitality package.

I agree with D3x. Get someone else with proper instrumentation and knowledge to help with this.

It is a quad lnb with four points if i am correct now and a single lnb. The multiswitch is a 2x6 multiswitch. Yeah about half of the channels is a bit snow and some stripes on it while the others is working fine. There is also a big rf in to rf out amp box thing connected to it.

But all the decoders run from rf in to rf in or rf out.

Thanks

I will have to go and make sure but i think it is connected like an extra view setup so i will have to explain to them that it is not allowed that way.

It is not XtraView. Get me a photo of the RF launch amp and draw up a diagram of the WHOLE network layout, with cable distances between splitters and to the rooms. As much info as possible... Let me know when you are done.

If you get snow the problem is on the RF side, not the Dish and decoders. Digital wont give snow :)

So the problem is between the decoder RF out, that cable and the analog side of the network.

Ok i got it sorted out thank you. Now i need to build a box with a fan or fans for the nine decoders. Any set up ideas on someting that can work great? What fan or fans can i use?

Thanks

Get a server rack or build one of wood with large pc fans

How much is it for a large pc fan more or less you think? Also how much would you charge if you had to do this? How would i power the fans?

Thanks

Cheap

You build the shelves with one decoder on each and 2 fans, one blowing from the one side and one sucking away.

Power with pc psu
