[GUIDE] Bypass IP Bans

A completely pointless article. Changing your MAC address will not stop you from getting banned. They ban your IP address - not your MAC address.

They wont even have your MAC address. Your IP will be nat'd to your adsl router so if anything they will have the adsl's MAC.

He does not seem to understand that his LAN side is totally separate from the WAN side of the router, which is where it counts.

Most people on here probably already know this. But just in case anyone is reading this drivel:
1. Networking has absolutely sweet nothing to do with your house address.
2. Every networking device/interface has a unique address called a MAC address. This is hard coded in every piece of networking hardware.

In the average south african gamer scenario your ADSL router is configured with your PPPoE account details you got from your ISP. The router then "shares" the connection with your network. Your computers MAC has nothing to do with the internet connection. When you connect to a gaming server the IP the gaming server sees is the IP allocated to you when your router dialled up your PPPoE connection. Every ISP has a range of IP's allocated to them and assign them using some sort of allocation algorithm when each connection is made. If your IP has been banned, generally just reconnecting your router will result in a new IP. You can manually disconnect/reconnect on the router admin page, press the reset switch if your router has one, or just cycle power to the router.
In the RARE case that this does not work because your ISP is weird and gives you the same IP, just about all routers have the facility to change the MAC address used for the connection. You will have to change this on the router admin page.

The only case where your pc MAC address is used is in some cases the game/client software could read the MAC address on your pc and pass it to the server. They could ban you on this, and then changing your MAC on your pc might help. It might also stop some licensed software from running but generally consumer software doesn't depend on your MAC for licensing.

Jeez WTF WTF WTF, is wrong with you people flaming, you have totally forgotten WTH i posted in the Beginning, you havent even tried it but you wana express your ****ing knowledge here, piss off if you have no intrest in this thread

Dude, we have read your OP and we seem to understand it better than you. You do not seem to grasp even some basic principles. If you do not understand how things work then post with caution as people are bound to expose the flaws in your post which will make you cry as we've seen from the above to posts.

...sits...
...opens beer...
...changes house hash address...
...gets hash from new house...

OK, I'm ready. Every single one of you that has had his or her two cents here has been cruel and unforgiving and failed to see the underlying point, which I shall highlight for everyone.

i work by telkom thats how i know this

Thank you - now please, grab some hash. C-A-D is obviously aware of what s/he is talking about.

ok so their are some troubles regarding the thread in which i do apologize in, but to those who pointed out that Physical Address is the Mac Address, yes it is but, i couldnt say look for the mac address in the box because you wont find it, it is disclosed with windows advanced box as "physical address".

You say potatoes...

What work do you do for Telkom exactly?

OK - I am tempted to either report this thread or ask the OP to go back and change something. The report is not for breaking any rules of myBB but because the scenario where someone not knowing what they are doing searches for a solution to a banned IP finds this thread and tries it, but not for the modem MAC but rather the network card's one.

MANY programs - including windows itself - use the MAC as part of the hardware signature when activating. One wrong click on that thing and goodbye to half your activated software. This advice is dangerous to naive (and even informed) users. OP - I know your intentions are good but many people acting on this could really mess their systems up.
