I would rather wait for the official link to go out before I start downloading.

The last thing you want is to log in on Friday only to receive an incompatible client error or something ;)

What is the new .dat file name? Wondering if the bwe client wil update into launch?

Either way, im hoping for the client soon...im ITCHING to play this weekend.
 
Wait.... I renamed it to gw2.dat and it's updating from that now. It jumped from 188000 files (total) to 66000 files from the last beta.

They added a "Download client" link toe account.guildwars2.com, which wasnt there yesterday, so im reallly hoping we can start our download today.

Anyone know if they'll have a beta server up in EU?

Yes there is a server in the EU (was up for the beta already).
 
Awesome! Want to test a few of my ips's to see which one gives better lat :)

Yes, the old beta client from March was more or less about 110 000 files on initial download. Prior to the stress test, it went up by a few thousand, and now it immediately updated the old client by starting at about 187 000 files still to go. This is a good sign that they have been doing a lot of updating.
My advice is MAKE A BACKUP of the client once it finishes downloading. Trust me... just in case, you don't want something to bomb out, and then you have to download the client all over again.
 
This morning when I woke up, the client had finished downloading, and was sitting on about 12.7GB, so that is a pretty big jump in content over the past month. Nearly 2GB!

Yeah, they probably added some more map areas - not everything is available yet, so chances are it's graphics.
 
BTW: Seems some people can't tell the time.
It's from Friday 9pm to Monday 9am. (For the PDT it's Friday noon to Sunday night 23.59)

I didn't even notice it came in 3 languages as I didn't read that far down when I received it. Wonder how many German/French people will be annoyed because their message "only" came in English :)

Well, I guess Lions Arch is the major extra, as it was not available in the previous beta. If I recall, the original beta message from March did say between 18 and 23GB that you should prepare for, so this could be an indication of the size of the full game in the end.

The 18-23GB could very well be. The sys req's also say "20GB free space".... so that sounds accurate.
 
Bushbaby's post in her thread is talking about their guild playing on the Petrified Forest server.
 
We simply chose it for the more mature community that usually comes with RP players. While most of us don't RP ourselves, and some of us never will, RP Servers have always had the most mature and player friendly communities out there. That is why we will be playing there. Also even if you choose another server you are welcome to join us on mumble (VOIP) for a few laughs as we experience Beta together. You can find our details on our guild ("Iniuria") website. There is a link to our website in the guild wars forums of mybroadband
