A German man has been arrested after an 82-year-old woman and a cyclist were shot dead near the town of Ansbach, police have said.
Police said the suspect also shot at two other people from his car. They are both reported to be unharmed.
The incident sparked a massive manhunt in southern Bavaria region after the gunman fled.
The suspect is believed to be an 18-year-old man, and broadcaster N24 has reported that he was caught by police at a petrol station in Ansbach following a hunt that included helicopters.
Police say they believe the man was acting alone, and currently don't know anything about his identity or background.
The first victim is believed to have been an elderly woman.
Police have reported that the driver shot and killed a woman in the area of Leutershausen-Tiefenthal before fleeing the scene.
Shortly afterwards, not far from the first shooting, a cyclist was shot and killed in Rammersdorf, reports Melanie Hall in Berlin.
A farmer and another motorist were also shot at or threatened with weapons but police said both were unharmed.
Local media reported that a man with a gun targeted passers-by from a silver Mercedes.
Local reports state that a man has been arrested and there is no indication it is terror related.
