Obvioulsy if you are a fan of GW your natural instinct will be to defend your beloved game, but hear me out first.

I used to play WoW a game where the world has no end, whether your in a town, or out in the world there are always other players, friendly and unfriendly walking about.

So many times I would be out questing and out of the corner of my eye would catch a glimpse of an enemy player trying to sneak up on me, and its a fight or flight scenario.

Occasionally I even joined masive battles where the Horde and alliance would fight it out in the open world.

Then GW came out, (no monthly subscription) how could I resist.

I honestly felt betrayed when I played this game, on first impression the graphics are amazing, it seemed like the world was open like WoW cause I was in a city full of people running around.

Then.... I left town, I was on my own, the whole world is an instance, it feels so dead, so lonely...
The outside world isn't really a world, its a series of tunnels with the roof painted like sky, I would get to the end of a cliff and there would be an invisible wall preventing me from jumping off. (IF there was even a jump) and I don't mean /jump
This doesn't feel like an online game, there is just a group of us in the entire world walking around, this should be a LAN game.

It is not a MMORPG but rather an online RPG, so comparing them would be comparing different genres of music, makes no sense.

I also play both and like any other game do become Monotonous, it would be impossible to have GW as a realtime world without asking for money every month. Which is why WOW could be free if the worlds were instance based.

Either way I think MMORPG's are the way of the future and I cant wait to see the titles which are going to kill both GW and WOW. That means great games for all of us. As opposed to try and argue some stupid point such as one game being better or one platform being better than another such as the XBOX 360 versus that of the PS3 or the PC.

More great games with even greater worlds, more intresting ways to interact with them, and more ways to interact with other people from around the world is the way to go.

Thats why in both games being part of a Guild is a necessity or else it all gets monotomous after a while.

Look in the end it is about spending large ammounts of time and money on something which is virtual. No matter how rare your uber sword, axe, upgrade, there is nothing tactile you have to show for it. But as long as you are enjoying the game then go for it.

I do agree that Guildwars seems to lack incentive to play cooperatively, at least during the startup of the game. It is not quite the Diablo III that I envisaged it to be. But once you get further in the game it does help to team up with people and tackle missions cooperatively. It can be good fun, but GW is a serious time consumer.

Maybe one day South Africa might come out of the dark ages and have enough broadband gamers to host their own GW server. Oh well let me dream away....

And once again Macguyver1 with another brainless post, especially the subject. GW won best MMORPG from DEMMX. WoW didn't even feature.

If you did your homework you would have seen GW was an instanced game.

And based on your opinion, you don't like it. But that's just it, your opinion. It's just one of the reasons I don't like WoW, which is even more time-consuming btw @ redheadfan.

I am actually relieved because now I won't have to worry about having a n00b like you in any of my groups I play in :p :D

So by me giving my opinion it equates to a brainless point, as you put it lilDeath it is just my opinion, and I new I would get morons like you attacking my argument, the thing is I don't care cause I don't play either game at the moment.

So next time someone gives an opinion on a forum, try not insulting them so that you can feel better about yourself, but then again with a nick like lildeath you can't be older then 12.

A brief explanation about this conversation would have helped..

And another thread goes to endless arguments about opinions. lol... its only a game... ;)

Mac what saffa wants too show u with that "conversation" is what happens when mobs get camped in a MMORPG - especialy when a player works for paypal money and farm gold or plat on a server
and i think he is trying too say that instanced worlds are good i dont agree

cant wait for VANGAURD (ex EQ player 2 years )

Yeah, I mean instanced worlds let you stay away from lvl 60's who wanna kill you, but they also force you to stay away from everyone else in the whole world that isn't in your 5 man party.

What a crock!

Quite ironic this post, saying I am insulting you, yet saying I am 12 at the same time. Hopefully you feel better now :D

I said your post was brainless, not you (maybe you just had a down time at that moment), slight difference, hence it's not personal, unless that is how you are taking it, which it appears to be. :p My post was meant to make you realise that you (in fact) went into the game half-arsed, meaning you didn't know what the game was about when you bought it and now you feel you have a right to complain about it, which is what your post read like, a complaint.
Or do you buy cars, houses, tv's, etc. without determining what they have to offer? Actually, don't answer that.

The only reason you most likely posted what you have, was to show people what you think, but (and here's what bothers me) if an uninformed individual read your post they might actually agree with you, but IMO you are not an expert in the area. Not knowing that GW is an instanced game, confirms this.

This essentially means you will influence other people based on your opinion, which is not good, IMO.

Reason I am taking a special liking to you is that this is not the first of such posts from you, seems you must uphold your reputation with your 'piracy'-gem posts...

Ha Ha, If I were to call your mother brainless, or perhaps something that you did brainless I would imagine that you would take it as an insult aimed at you as I did.
The reason that I posted my opinion about WoW vs GW is that is that I have played both games extensively having reached maximum level in both games and felt putting my opinion on a forum couldn't really hurt anyone (boy was I wrong).

What you need to realise is when I list things about GW that I dont like it is not a direct attack at you, what you need to understand is that you are not one of the game designers of GW and therefore you don't have to try defend it whenever you see a post saying something bad about it.

Maybe I should have read more about GW before I bought it, but R300 on a game that I don't like won't be the end of me.

World of Warcraft is not all that good, ie the monthly costs. But the Way that you are always grinding to get the next lvl, and you will soon realise that is all thats all you are doing, and now the cap is raised to 70 its going to be a tough and boring lvling process.

Not just that you are relying on getting the best kit and gear , and you can have an unfair advantage.

Plus you are only good, if you spend hours playing the game, in GW skill is the key to success.

That's my exp from GW as well.

Unfortunately it's just not my type of game and i stopped playing after a week. I don't put many hours into online gaming which doesn't help in games like WOW and GW. :(

With a mistruth (read: blatant lie!) like above, how could you not expect a heated response?? :D

I bet our definitions of 'extensively' differs as well. :D
At least you didn't have to pay monthly as is the case with WoW ;) :p
