Cape Town is HOME, Centurion is WORK
So the gym I'm at will be closing for renovations in April and will only be open in September again.

This is the off-season period to put on some decent muscle mass and start cutting from September again therefore I can't afford to be out of gym for this extended time.

Does anyone know of any gyms in the Centurion area where one can gym and pay on a Month-to-Month basis or sign a 6 months contract only???

There are three Virgin Active's in the area. One in Eco Park, one in Highveld (Behind the Makro), and another one in Rooihuiskraal.

Plante Fitness there's one in Hennops and another in Centurion, just off John Vorster. Few private ones around but not too sure of them

But I don't know of any either. I wish I did.

You can do Month-to-Month at Virgin - but it's very expensive - I paid something like R 900 pm a few years ago.

Wayne's? I used to go there and they have monthly memberships.

Yeah that's definitely waaaay to expensive. Then I'll rather get fat lol

Where in Centurion is Wayne's Gym? and how much is/was there monthly membership?

Yeah I know it's hard to find these but I know there is these kinda gyms. Generally "smaller" gyms offer these options but your VA & PF don't as far as I'm aware

Crap! I quoted the wrong post. I meant the OP

Working and staying in Centurion therefore ideally Centurion.

As mentioned it will only be for a short period. Ideally not looking to pay more than R300 pm

It's just off Hendrik Verwoerd Drive, between Old Johannesburg and John Vorster. If you know where the "kerksondermure" is (the church on top of the hill, very visible landmark), and you go down towards Old Jhb road, it's on the right, just past the highway and next to the trailer rental place and all the car dealerships. Hard to miss really.

I think it was about 250 back then but this was 2 years ago.

It's a small, privately owned gym, not one of those fancy-schmancy "fitness centres" like Virgin or Planet Fitness. Real old-skool body building place. Which for me is nice, I don't go to a gym to mess around, so why pay extra for all the BS?

Thanks TJ99. will definitely go around there in the week to have a look and confirm the prices. If it has decent weights and not that full then ill definitely join

I agree 100% with you. I go to gym to lift weights and put them down, that's it. Not to play around. If it has a dumbbells and barbells only I'm happy - will just have to improvise. Only time I do use machines is when doing Back as the Machines assist with hitting the muscles from various angles. Hopefully this old school setup will give me that motivations to gym hard again

They do have machines, I just meant they don't have swimming pools and smoothie shops and 50 massage parlors etc.

Their Facebook page only lists prices for contracts 12 months and up, but I know you can do month to month.

Early in the morning (5:00) when they open, it's quite full but not so much that you have to wait for ages for a machine. Rest of the day is quiet and Saturdays you have the place almost to yourself.

Oh! No I don't need those fancy-shmancy things. That just prolongs one's time in the gym. I wanna get in and out of gym as efficient as possible while doing everything I planned to.

Will check them up on facebook and give them a call then.

I will probably be hitting the gym after work. Hopefully it is not that full after 6pm or 7pm. GREAT!!! And probably on a Friday evening as well.

How is Wayne's gym from 17:00 to about 20:00? Virgin Active is basically fully packed during this period from Monday to Wednesday, and I usually took about 2 hours to do about 80 minutes worth of exercise.

Went to Wayne's Gym.

For a 6 month contract, you pay R275 per person, on average, if you sign up 4 persons for 6 months. R245 if you sign up 4 people for 12 months. It's R380 per month for a single person on a 6 month contract.

Monthly fee is R500 per person, no matter how many people. Quick calculation regarding the numerous sign-up fees is about R650 per person. A bit less than Virgin.

Dirtiest gym I've seen as well.

The only positive is that it won't be busy between 5 and 8. But the route we'll need to travel and the much longer distance than to Virgin, more than cancels that out.

No thanks.
