anyway

so there's the AMD 64 FX 60............

What about the FX 61 is it real is it out already.... does it even exist. :o

HELP ME!!! cos i don't know???

VIVA out..?

No, the FX-61 doesn't exist and isn't out yet. I think the confusion comes in as AMD used odd numbers for their FX-series line (i.e. FX 55,57, 59) but changed to FX-60 for some reason (maybe 'cause it's dual-core?)

ah.. but do u think that they will be releasing an FX 61 or FX 62 or just a new cpu soon

Next FX cpu will be FX62 IIRC, all new FX series will be FX60,62,64 etc cos they are dual core.

It's in AMD's roadmap :p

Edit: nm, various forumites (other sites) chatting about it but none of them pointing to solid sources ...

if one upgrades again what will be a better option to take; The fx 60cpu or the conroe chip from pentium?

FX 60... just because AMD are better.

Okay wait.. truth is that the Conroe chip beats a FX60, so if you want to be a veraaier you should probably get the Conroe. In facte you should probably get it anyway, its a better chip.

Not shure, usually a benchmark test would take that into account, I think it possibly does.

Intel have always beat AMD in multi-media, but whos that worried about their DVD taking about 20 seconds longer to get encrypted when youve got a better performance CPU.

Alienware are already taking Pre Orders for the FX61, so i take it that its already out, or will be out by the 10th. (AM2 Release... everyone is hoping)

well as far as i know intel as saying this and that but we dont know till theyrelease their cpu

and then i will still buy amd just because intel suckors big donkey weenie :)

Conroe doesn't beat the FX60 or even FX57 at most stuff - according to Anandtech's latest benchmarks - but the power consumption is excellent, and if it's cheaper, that could be a huge advantage.

Is Fear the right Benchmark?

HERE is a Conroe article with benchmarks, the page shows the only bench/game (FEAR) that the testers installed on their own.
Howsit Hammertime! :)

We were chatting the other day about the game called Fear.
I haven't actually played it myself and have only stood behind a machine which was running the game. Very nice eye candy from what I saw.
But my more learned Nephew tells me that in his opinion the game is perhaps badly coded?
He is quite a fundi with all these new games and has cracked them all.
He is using a AMD machine with a 512MB 7800GTX with 3Gb of Ram. He makes sure he is up to date with everything.
He thinks that the game for what you see is pretty good, but not that good to the extent that you should need such a powerful machine to run it?
He claims there is something wrong with the coding or even perhaps the real time shadows could be the factor of the slow fps.

An observation.
There are people with single core Opteron Chips running at 2800MHz getting better performance than their dual core counterparts?

Dude, you're so leet.

Anyway, if the dual cores are also running at 2,8GHz, they should perform basically the same (except in the one or two games that now have dual core patches and multithreaded applications), bearing in mind different brands of graphics cards and motherboards.

Blush. ;)

I must find the links and post them here.
Can do so later.

The new conroe chip from pentium will be released arround the 1st quarter of 2007

sigh..
