HA loadshedding automation

Have you done the setup on this screen? It's something you need to enable, it's not on by default

Resurrecting a thread here. Mea culpa.

I was in the middle of asking for a solution to this problem when I figured it out. So here's the PSA solution:

Does anyone know how to make use of the sensor.load_shedding_area_"your area" entity's state?
Basically to use it as a loadshedding detector in real time as opposed to referring to the calendar for predictions.
I've tried putting in an automation as a condition but no luck.

Here's what I've done and that didn't work
condition: state
entity_id: sensor.load_shedding_area_capetown_5_rondeboschsouth
state: "Off"
//Off means loadshedding is off, so power is on
enabled: true

Solution:
"Off" shouldn't have a capital, just like the way the card displays it, all small letters, easy.

Don’t you want to use the inverter voltage / frequency as an actual state of whether you have power or not?
 
Just bumping this. Is the ESP integration still possible for HA? Apparently ESP is no longer allowing new requests for API access.

Had a cursory look. Looks like it's still free for 50 requests per day.

Change the term to monthly and set 0 dollar under fair price, then subscribe.
