From hardcore raider to casual player, I finally get hacked. I watched from my wife's pc, as i logged on, created a lvl1 toon, then logged into all of my toons one by one. I couldn't log in afterwards, ofc, password was changed.
So i went to the battle.net website, and started the 'recovery' process. Scanned my pc, though I knew I wouldn't find anything, as i'm pretty careful. Changed my email password, as advised. Filled in their new password form online, and received the email, which allowed me to log on again.

I then went through all of my toons, to confirm that all of my gold, and valuable items had been taken.

The process seemed a little unclear at that point. Do I make a ticket? Don't I? I chose the wrong option and created a ticket. Blizzard had already created a ticket, but was not yet processed.

So my self-created 2nd ticket ends up suspending my new login. Can't get into the game, can't log into the official site.

The links they send through to email, informing you of your ticket are invisible/don't work - tried through Chrome and IE.

Any ideas of what I can do now?

I can't for the life of me think how they could have gotten my login details, baffling.

Unfortunately I can't offer any advice or help but I am curious, did you use the same password anywhere else?

Perhaps some sort of WoW community/fan site or anywhere else like a web forum or something that was in anyway connected to (had any mention of) your WoW characters/account or anything?

Perhaps they "hacked" another forum's database and got the password that way, I'm no expert but apparently it can be done.

This

Not keylogger? They can hide themselves very well

Had another thought run Hijackthis free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ and submit your log file to one of the many security related forums on the net, there's probably people here that can have a look too (post in the security forum if you want that obviously).

There are also numerous online log scanners available if you google "hijack this log scanner". HJT finds rootkits and other hidden stuff that ordinary scanners can't see afaik, be careful with it though and don't fix anything with it unless you're sure.

Well, things are really taking a turn for the worst. I've now been banned. I've also been directed to a website where I get to beg for the privilege of being a customer of theirs again. Automated responses are the order of the day, and I really am not going to go through that for a third time - change your email password, make a new secret question, follow this link(which isn't there), do this, do that. No thanks.

Start by phoning them, they usually are very friendly on the phone. And uhm oh yes you can call their toll-free number for free on Skype so it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

I can't think of anywhere i've done this. I'm changing passwords on my other stuff as well, just to be sure.

I will give this a go, thanks. I have a pretty lame AVG as my antivirus, which does protect me from standard stuff. I've also now run Spybot & Adaware - Adaware kept my pc busy for hours, won't try that while I'm awake again :)

Just to complete things, I ended up calling their support number. Very helpful. In fact, they were just waiting for me to call them, as they were concerned that my email account was compromised. All my items and gold were returned. Think I'll be getting one of those authenticators, don't feel like going through that again.
It's weird, I don't play half as much as I used to. My guild is comprised of my wife and I, and all of our alts. But I hated that I couldn't log on, even if it's just to faff around with my bank toon, lol.
