Hackers have figured out a way to connect wirelessly to a pacemaker and drain the battery, or to activate a jolt of electricity strong enough to stop a heart. This can only spell bad news for the pacemaker manufacturers who will have to scramble to produce a device that is more secure than current models (currently not secure whatsoever).

*nod* At least they've discovered the problem, so they can do something about it.
Not quibbling with you, Lycanthrope ... I agree. But I'm really saddened that yet another "vulnerability" has to be fixed. The "problem" is not with the technology - we all know this side of the grave there no such thing as 100% security.

The real problem is that people who want to do this sort of thing are broken. Our social system is broken. Our culture is broken, and no amount of technology will ever get around this. Technology can't fix broken morality. (I fear we're weaving a web of laws and technologies that, in the hands of malcontents, will make Hitler and Stalin look like playful puppies.)

Agreed... That's why at least some form of protection against people like that is better than none.

There's no technical solution. The only way is to make people better, by making a better society, which is made by better laws, which are made by better people, which are made by better families, which are made by better marriages, whch are made by better men and women, which are made better by better behaviour according to better moral principles ... and that's where we've lost our way ...

Mmm, I beg to differ, what does not kill you makes you stronger. One deserves better treatment, if you are able to pay for it. All other ideas, are just self perservation methods, in that they become acceptable, so that if one has need of them, then society has them availble for ones use.

Thats just sickening that anyone would want to do that!

Well hackers and virus writers get their jollies from this- they don't care, they're well on their way to becoming full time criminals in most cases.

IMHO all hackers/virus writers should get the death penalty or have their hands chopped off.

Hopefully this will get Them to design better pace makers hackers promote development

Well my hostility this weekend is due to the fact that my desktop got infected... I swear if it was up to me I'd have their hands and their feet chopped off and then leave them to bleed to death. That is the fate that every script-kiddie deserves!
