Another victory against piracy!

Here is the message on their site.
http://hackulo.us

Goodnight, sweet prince.

We are very sad to announce that Hackulous is shutting down. After many years, our community has become stagnant and our forums are a bit of a ghost town. It has become difficult to keep them online and well-moderated, despite the devotion of our staff. We're incredibly thankful for the support we've had over the years and hope that new, greater communities blossom out of our absence.

With lots of love,
Hackulous Team

Maybe this explains why my Idrifta gave me the "not supported on a jailbroken device yesterday"
Could it be?

I also couldnt access Installous this morning.

Was inevitable.. community was dying out because all those cheapskates flocked to Android :p

No doubt a loss to the Jailbreak community. They're the major reason I got the most out of my iPhone 4 in SA.
Although with the slow but steady opening up of itunes content in SA this wont be as much of a loss for Apple users as it might have been in the past.

How so?
I have bought many apps after I tried them via hackulous.

You might have, however, for many people it is a way of freeloading.
And if the developers wanted you to try before buying, they would have released a lite version

+1 I Used to use this but since having a iOS 6 device that could not be jailbroken i have come to realise that i mean really 0.99 for a app on average is really worth the support it has also tought me to read and look around before i buy and not just try and let it be a waste.

I don't think this has anything to do with anyone shutting them down and more to do with other groups simply getting better at it and thus Hackulo.us losing support.

It's not a win for anti-piracy, they've simply gone somewhere else.

But as Michaelmw said I've also unjailbroken since iOS6 and never felt a loss for it. If an App is too expensive I simply don't need it and add it to my Appshopper wishlist so that when it becomes cheaper I can buy it.

Only thing I've ever paid more than 99c for was Magic The Gathering because I knew exactly what I was getting with that.

The thing is those same Freeloaders would never buy the Apps anyway.

They would rather suffer through struggling with updates and not being able to upgrade their OS just to save a whopping 99c here and there. It's the type of people who moan about having to pay for Whatsapp even though it saves them hundreds if not thousands of rands compared to using SMS.

If the Jailbreak option wasn't available to them in the first place, they would never even have gotten an iPhone.

More bizarre is that in all my years since I first got my iPhone 3GS I haven't even spent a $100 yet. That's $25 a year if my rough calculations are correct...$2 a month.

That's not even lunch money.

Lol, you are such an Apple apologetic. lol.
