Had an interesting conversation with Mweb sales

Received a sales call. Had a bit of fun with them. They wanted to sell a Mweb uncapped account. My inlaws are on Mweb uncapped and it gets shaped to the max, so I'm not overly keen to take up the offer. So. Started going through the process to see how far I can go. Along the way, I I was asked for my landline to check my ADSL speed. Wait. What. Does this mean that any ISP can access my line speed (and maybe more) info? Isn't that sharing confidential information?

I'm currently with Telkom.

Telkom have a website, you put in a phone number and it tells you what theoretical speed it can get.
 
If they can provide ADSL line access they can check your line speed/quality. They did the same to me (I was a former MWEB client) and wanted to sell me uncapped again (at like R200 more than I was currently paying). I was shocked they still had all my details and could check things without my permission

Mweb are scumbags, especially when they raped innocent people with their out of bundle rates
