Had it with Cell C

Hi Zombielord, will happily see how we can sort the issue. Thuto, one of my A-team, will get in touch if you PM me your coordinates.

Thanks

Lars

Hi Lars
It seems that when someone new complains you respond? Cape Town, Brackenfell have been pathetic for a long time now - please have a look at Thread: Network Issues since January 1 - Western Cape and Thread: Slow upload speeds in Cape Town. I had to return to Vodacom just to use the internet - although I have a 5 gig p/m prepaid package from Cell C. The issue was reported numerous times with Trouble Ticket: 1319420 - UNRESOLVED. Any feedback on the eta of the fix would be appreciated.

Right. Have been in touch with the Cell C and NSN okes. The feedback have been very detailed as to the source of the problem. And we are currently looking into a Plan B untill the new sites have arrived.

Thanks guys.

Will keep on posting as to the status of this issue.

OMW, this thread title scares me. I am to buy the 5GB bundle by Friday, what to do? After reading all this CellC issues on MyBB it seems best to look at alternates?

Must agree with Vee... looks like we [Cape Town - Brackenfell - Morgenster] will have to threaten as well to get some sort of proper response... Lars note the following:

From this thread: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/302569-Slow-upload-speeds-in-Cape-Town/page16

After I complained on 8 Feb 2011, from ronbo4GS

"All,

Can you all give me an update on the speeds and connection stability today. Also if you are seeing an issue please include what suburb, modem, and drivers for the modem. I will have the team look into any issues.

Sorry for the hassles
Ron"

I did as was requested:

"Ok, the stats... connection seems stablish... but data throughput is horrible, upload speed is faster than download!

SpeedTest: http://www.speedtest.net/result/1147904998.png

Modem: E1752
Driver: 4.20
Dash: CellC
RSSI: -87dBm
ConnType: HSPA

Suburb: Brackenfell, Vredekloof

BTW we use VC 3G for the office, runs super stable, often don't get disconnected days/weeks...

I will post results using MDMA dash in a mo... "

Then we get the following response from the CellC rep:

"Connection/ coverage issues are being dealt with, please email us directly on [email protected] with details. This is helping us to efficiently attend to "problem" areas..

Keep them coming!

>Name and surname
>Physical addresses / coordinates,
>Contact details,
>Model of the modem e.g. Huawei E1820.
>Detailed description of the fault/ problem
>when was the problem experienced
>Prepaid/ Post paid

Thanks!!"

Do you see a problem here? I certainly do, 1 user makes a threat and he gets proper professional customer service. Many of us have been requesting assistance in Cape Town, even though Ron and CellC rep indicate something is being done... nothing is being done. Why can we not get the same service as this user?

Disgusting!!!!

The thing is, desperate times call for desperate measures.

It certainly is not a polite way of doing it, but after going the normal route of calling the hotline (which does not work), sending emails to the onlinesupport address (which also does not work), threats and 3rd party escalations are the only viable option left.

And I think most of us would agree that we are just plain tired of allways being on the receiving end of the stick. There seems to be just too many things these days that you are either paying too much for or paying and just not receiving.

It's just not right.

Depends where you stay I guess. I have been extremely happy with cellc modem for the past 5 months in Rondebosch, CT

I believe it's got a little more to do with the promo uptake in specific areas, I would hazard a guess that in Brackenfell the sales has totally outstripped the tower's capacity(in the area), not too many people have ADSL... where as more people in Rondebosh have ADSL, so there is less usage of the CellC option, and therefore less network congestion!

As of yesterday
we now have the CPA
That will make my day
If CellC went astray

So can I now buy the whoosh?

Yes, same in Stellenbosch - many students renting in the area have bought Cell C speed sticks so during University terms the speed is slow and over weekends and the past short holiday speeds were better. I'm looking forward to June and December...

Latest update:

My problem has been resolved!!!!!

I would like to Willie for his exceptional effort in looking into my case and resolving it.

He was here literally 15 minutes ago (On a Saturday. At night. At 22:15) and we managed to get the antenna up. (Which he purchased at his own personal expense.). MY RSSI dropped from -87/91dBm to -71dBm.
Best download speed: 4.8Mbps.
Best upload: 1.6Mbps

This oke is the bestest oke EVER!!! Thank you so much.

Awesome! As of right now I have nothing but edge :( I am planning on getting one of these antenna's tomorrow.
One question, how did you direct it? Did Willie use special equipment? Or did he know where to point it.

Is there any way of finding out the locations of the towers?

You just point it in the direction of the tower. No special equipment used, I think the way forward would be to contact one of the Cell C okes on the forum with your coordinates and ask them what the ones are for the tower that you are connecting to. We just pointed in the general direction, I'm going to fine tune mine today so the reception will most likely improve.
