It was quite freaky, one minute the sun was out and within 2 minutes everything went dark and these black clouds just came from nowhere and it started pelting down.

Hold on, you are getting confusing now.... where did rain come into this :
Fair play lancelot.... though 320 days still leaves 45 when the sun ain't spotted at all . Break that down in periods of 5 days. That leaves you with (potentially) NINE periods in the year where it rains for at least 5 days straight. In JHB, it will rain for five days straight maybe once every one or two years.

320 days of sun does not automatically mean 45 days of rain. An overcast day would count as a day with no sunshine!
