Half life, steam etc.

I borrowed my friends cd of half life a few months ago, played the game enjoyed it and returned it. Today in CNA I bought a 5 cd boxed set that has half life, hl 2, counter strike & deathmatch. Having created an account and put in the cd key, so far each time I click an icon it requres that I am connected to the internet and says game will be ready to play in 22 minutes - must I wait this long each time? must I always have an internet connection to play?

Once the game has updated fully it will be ready to play in offline mode, you can then start steam in offline mode and launch the game.

well steam updates itself and the games...once the games have the required updates you should be able 2 play 'offline'......

just leave steam 2 update one evening/night/weekend....afta that, small updates will happen.....and you shouldnt have any problems...
