Halo 3 and multiplayer

So being on 4mbps ADSL I thought I'd give Halo 3 a go. Logged in to 'Basic Training' and got put onto a small map. Now the game is not bad, for a first time r I finished third out of 8 which I didn't think was too shabby. My problem is, by the sounds of the people shouting I think I'm on a European server/game (judging by the pre-pubescent shouting in German coming through on the headset) . I can see there's South African games, how I do get there?

If my memory serves me right it's more about blind luck than anything getting into a SA game..

You could join up with some friends and start a private game but then you don't rank up...

Go into matchmaking settings (I think it's 'X' in the lobby) and change the option to "Good connection".

The problem is that you can't join ranked games mid game, you have to wait till the guys are also in a lobby looking for a game.
