Is it possible to use hamachi but keep the majority of the BW on a local only account...

I.E. to set it up so the management is still central (to there server) but the "tunnel" is over local only, maybe by using a proxi server on a box with a international conn. and a dailed pppoe connection on the Hamachi Box

Plea:Dse help

It sounds feasable, provided your admin is able to see out... but I seem to remember an initial handshake with a server `out there somewhere' before you can get your p2p stuff going... last time I used it was before logmein aquired it tho...

Not gonna fly with a simple Hamachi setup. You will need a linux box to split and route traffic like that imo.

I have had a linux Box set up to do this running hamachi and i can confirm it does work (albeit a fair amount of work if you aint a routeHead)
I dont use it in this manner these days though... it's a fair amount slower than normal - there is an adsl line at the other end, uncapped - with 384 up speed, which is my theoretical max down...

I have a squid / socks proxy running - which i use in place of a full route setup - far easier and the benefits of a cache...

I have also seen some decent improvements with a SSH port forwarding setup to the Proxy (With compression switched on) - Does not really work as well over the hamachi IP - i'm guressing there is already a fair amount of IP header mangling / shaping going on, but a native SSH link over a public route - you can see some nice increases... :)

why not just use the built in windows VPN? it will work on local only bandwidth

I have been hosting a couple of LAN games lately with Hamachi with over 7 guys. I am using Route Sentry and all the gaming has come off my local only account, with a minimal ammount off international.

I think it works the same way as the Battlefield servers in that it needs to have int to connect to the server but once connected, it uses local if the server is local. Perhaps you could log in with int and then swop your account? If you dont want to use RS

Guess I was wrong then. Good to hear that in this case.

I'm using Route Sentry on Windows XP and Hamachi at the same time, but the Hamachi is coming off my international account and its alot slower that when I only use the international account alone, without(disabling) RS. The pc I'm connecting to is also based here in SA, so how do I get it to work...... What am I doing wrong?

Plus wouldn't port forwarding work alot better? I'm not using it for LAN gaming though.... so yeah.... don't know if that helps?

I'm quite the noob to all of this... so sorry if this sounds a bit stupid. Help will be greatly appreciated!:D
