Can anybody please recommend an orthopaedic surgeon in Cape Town, preferably Northern Suburbs, who specialises in hands, preferably one that you/somebody you know have actually used and been happy with?
I fell and hurt my hand a month back while on holiday and am still having trouble bending straightening some of my fingers, but also have a pre-existing condition (dupuytrens contracture). Nothing seemed to have broken at the time - no grinding or grating. Was in Hondeklipbaai at the time, couldn't find a doctor there. Have been to physio 3 times, but the knuckle on my ring finger is still quite swollen and purple.

The only guy I know is Dr Chris Narramore who operates out of the Constantiaberg Medi-Clinic.

Only 3 sessions with a physio will not fix it, sometimes you have to go for months. I broke my (left) wrist in 2005. After a year I had 90% mobility but it took a further 3 years before it got a bit better. I still cannot rotate it past 60 deg but this does not affect me anyway

Try Dr David Rodseth at N1 City Hospital. I'm not sure if he specialises in hands in particular, but I was very satisfied with his work on my hand & arm after a dog attacked me.

I still have full use of my hand - the only remaining damage is a patch of skin on the back that has very little feeling.
