Hi guys

Specifically posting in Linux section as I am running a headless Ubuntu Server.

I have been using Linux for a while so am comfortable with messing around. Recently discovered Handbrake so I'm now playing around with that. I have converted a few files with no problems and run a couple scripts.

Now I'm looking for the following. Is there a format that will play on my PS3, Samsung Galaxy S2 and S3 as well as an iPad?

Also, is there a way to put files into a folder and have Handbrake automatically monitor the folder, convert the files and move to another folder, and then delete the original file?

You will have to find the common denominator between the those devices, go read the specs and see what they all support, then create a test file and try it on all the devices.

A simple bash script should do that for you. You can have a task running at startup to check the folder contents at regular intervals and if it finds any new stuff you can call your bash script to perform the handbrake conversions.

Something weird I came across. I used Freemake to convert a few files using the PS3 profile. When using PS3mediaserver as the DLNA server, my PS3 plays the files fine, but the S3 S3 and IPad don't play the files at all. When using Minidlna as the server the same files work perfectly across all 4 platforms. Same story with files converted using the Handbrake script.
