Was wondering if you guys know of any handheld devices that plays XviD, mp3 etc... Not interested in an iPod. It must have a nice big screen preferably and have a earphone socket.

Very long .jpg brochure here.

I have the Cowon A3. Its 60GB (and 30GB) has an 800by480 16.7mil colour screen
and plays back H264 BP and MP, DivX 3,4,5(6); XviD, MPEG1, MPEG2, MJPEG, MWV,
and MPEG4, video. Audio - AAC, AAC+, MP3, WAV, WMA, FLAC, OGG etc.
Includes subtitle support.

Can also view photo/pics, play radio, record voice and radio, RECORD VIDEO (line in)
and view docs. DVB-T adapter to watch TV is available.

I plays back virtually everything I've thrown at it, except for H264 HP, which
no players (not even Archos) can do. iPod can only do H264 BP at L0/1.

The screen is better contrast than Archos.

The A3 has the highest resolution screen available, except for Sharp phones
which do 854 by 480 but at A3's res of 800 by 480 the picture is gorgeous!

AFAIK, Archos allows plugin support so you can add support for that format if available.
