Hard Cap from 1 September 2005??

Hi All

Spoke to someone (he's company is an ISP) over the weekend and was given the shocking news that Telkom has emposed the hard capping (international and local once cap is reached) from the 1st September. Any truth in this? :eek:
 
Well my 1 acct is capped and I'm still routing all local traffic through it using Mikrotik without any problems...

I don't believe any of this hearsay anyhow. Not worth getting annoyed without being able to do anything.

Rather stalk some1 from telkom and kick the living **** out of them in some dark alley... The higher up the ranks they are the longer till your next commando outing... :p



ps. I am only joking there, so don't try and hunt me down :p
 
over the weekend at my mates place we had capped two of his accounts (the dude next door uses our account to download movies on his own line) Both capped and was playing cs and war3 perfectly on local and was surfing perfectly so no, saix account dont have a hard cap as of yet
 
Thanks Silent_Bob, I thought that he might have had the wrong information. I will definately speak to him again, and try to get some clarity on this, as he was quite certain that it is the case. I wonder if at this stage it is only implemented on the ISP's, by Telkom, and it might then be up to the ISP's to cap their users. Just a thought.

That's what I told him as well, he was quite "certain" that it was 1st September, but I'll just chech him on his info, when I speak to him again.
 
warichard ... can you guys press Telkom, UUNET, IS etc to provide a local only account with a cheaper rate?
 
hardcapping has hit already! imaginet has hardcap'd their 3gig accounts! my account with them got suspended yesterday, as i hit my cap. NADDA... i cant connect. phoned them, they said... sorry... ur cap'd read our site... it says *total traffic cap. immigration papers....

This is absolutely shocking... how can telkom cap local!!?? i needed to ras into work last night to do some work on a critical system... i had to phone a work colleague and ask him to do my work for me! wtf.

I'm currently waiting for a solution from imaginet. As i explained to them that i am not a happy chappy. I was not personally aware that my account would be HARDcap'd.

Or is Imaginet taking advantage of the proposed/rumoured rule of Telkom, ahead of time. Do they not even offer the per gig option after you're capped? What's their story?
 
Nope.. no per gig offer yet. Credit to imaginet... after chatting to someone high up, he has told me that he will make sure that my account is soft cap'd again. But it is in their scripts to hard cap.

telkom is evil!! local caping is SICK!
