Hi all

My disk is doing some funny things, there are a few folders on it that if I try to access them my whole windows just freezes and I have to do a admin override (pull out the power plug). Other folders on the disk seems to be fine.

Checkdisk on windows does not want to run on the disk as well. Do anyone know of any good software I can use to try and get my data back from that folders?

Thanks

Try seagates Seatools application

I had a drive start to do that on me and it was bad sectors and the disk crashed shortly afterwards.

What make/model disk is it?

Seagate barracuda 500 gig

O well, I have the disk plugged into my wife's machine and everything seems to be backing up fine. Even the folders I could not access from my machine or hers over the network. So I'm guessing now it's a reinstall of Windoze and a format on that disk.....

When you say checkdisk does not want to run - you are aware that checkdisk needs to take ownership of the drive and thus will only run as part of the boot process?

Checkdisk must be scheduled prior to the reboot.
