Hard drive lagging when connected to TV

Wow that you all for the ideas

@chevron
I don't really want anymore things that use wifi or Bluetooth or anything because I have a soundbar that just interferes with everything and I like to have that on when watching a movie.

@Sonic2k
I may have to try that, I will have look into it and see how it is done and if I'm capable of doing it.

@ScottulusMaximus
Thanks I hope it isn't my TV because I don't wanna have to buy a new one.

I'm gonna look into the reformatting the HDD. And them media players.

Cheers guys!

Try the formatting, then a different HDD. When those don't work(probably) look into a media centre, post here for advice first as there's some really crap ones out there.

The "just plug stuff in and play" on most TV's is a marketing gimmick.

My TV also reacts slowly with a HDD plugged in, but plugging the HDD into the Blu-Ray player works a lot better. The TV's hardware is not good enough, as has been stated. Try putting some of your stuff on a flash disk and plug that into the TV. Then you can play with different formatting options. Lower capacity drives also react faster, as the TV has less stuff to search.

Assuming the firmware or linux libs they compiled into their firmware, supports that.

Everything supports FAT32. That's the point. ext3 doesn't work on windows machines so good luck copying movies over.

Ok so I went to reformat my HDD and it says my HDD is already NTFS....
What now?
Edit: well I'm trying exfat because I don't download movies over 3 or 4gb anyways

Weird, I have a 1TB ext HDD plugged into my Samsung, the HDD is NTFS and I have no lag issues.

You only need exFat if you need files over 4GB in size. FAT32 is fine for you.
