I use Hard Disk Sentinel on my micro server and the last week or so it has been giving me a warning that my one hard drive, a WD green 2tb is about to fail. For the last week it has been jumping between 2% and 12% health and 2 days to 17 days estimated remaining lifetime. I have moved all of my data to other drives but I am going to need the space pretty soon.

Firstly, does anybody know how accurate hard disk sentinel is? I ran the WD tools and did a long scan on it and it says the drive is fine. If hard disk sentinel is trustworthy, how do I get the drive to fail before it's out of warranty?

HD Sentinel just reads the SMART data and interprets it in its own way. It's a good product to give you a rough idea of what's going on.

*edit*

Just saw the screenshot you attached. Bad sectors being remapped, drive is degrading and on its way out. RMA the drive asap.

The WD scan probably wouldn't have encountered any problems as all of the bad sectors have been remapped, so at this point the data area is still accessible. But as it degrades further and faster, this won't be the case.
