I changed my jumper settings to "limit to 32gb" and then i booted up and then when i changed it back to normal, windows says that the drive is not formatted. Can someone please help me to access or recover my files again.

Why did you such a thing, and what for? What happened when you booted up when the HDD was in 32Gb mode?

was just curious to see what happens. I tried booting into a linux live cd but it came up with an error.

@ ubby - first lesson learnt - if it works, don't mess with it ;)

Been there, done that :)

But, like seymour7 said, download that and see if you can recover your partition. Can't make any promises tho, but if you're lucky, then you should get your data back intact.

Failing that, a reinstall will be your only option, you will lose your data, but will be more cautious next time :)

You can also wait for other forumites to post their recommendations, and then decide what your best option will be.

Good luck ;)

Tried the programme but it picks up a linux partition for some reason. Will try a few more programmes and see what happens. I got backups of most of what was on the drive so i'm not that concerned, but i would like to just try and get a solution to this just for the experience.

Hi ubby

I have exacty the same problem regarding this jumper size limit to 32GB and it seems that I lost my files... Did you find a solution to get back all the files?

actualy it worked with the program Partition Table Doctor mentioned by seymour7! You just need a full version of it, and by rebuild Partition Table, all you datas will come back!

Thx for you tipps, which helped me to safe my files :)

I had the same issue a few weeks back with my old mans machine, installed Windows onto another drive and used some open source software to recover the data, was pretty easy.....I will find out the name of the software and post it.
