Hard Drive Recovery (yet another thread)

What is currently the best tools for this job?

Symptoms are a Seagate Barracuda 2TB LP that started having problems to boot into Windows. Had it in another machine but while copying data off it it stalled and now it is only detected as a RAW volume.

Last resort will be Southbit (due to the costs) but what tools can I use before that. Mechanically the drive sounds fine but when I took a peak at the SMART data it had a bad status, the reallocated sector count threshold was exceeded and there were a few pending sector reallocations listed.

I download a software called stellar phoenix windows data recovery *couch* cracked copy
my 1tb drive all of a sudden showed as raw....
but i recovered everything and it up to you ......you can purchase it for 50$

The only thing that showed any data was the Knoppix based live CD of runtime.org Get Data Back. I paid R900 to get the copy functionality as it could rebuild the file and directory structure. Yet it failed to save any data, got a refund.

Southbit should be done with it by next week.

Your data was collected today so you should be back in business.

You saved a few grand by choosing SouthBit instead of the competition :)

Let me know if you or your dad need anything else.

:D cool ! Be sure to let my dad know (its his HDD) then he can go fetch it. Really glad he went with you guys and that you could save his data.
