This is pretty cool :)

These are some typical sounds we hear in our data recovery lab. If your hard drive makes noises like these and you are still able to access your files - backup immediately. If your drive can no longer be seen in your system please fill out our simple evaluation form to get a fast quote on our data recovery services.
To listen to the sound simply click on the play button. Click on the drive manufacturer next to the sound button to learn more about common problems these drives experience.

Yeah you don't want to hear any of those sounds coming from your hard drive. Especially if it is out of warranty.

I'm surprised they have the time to record all of those. It's funny how the title of the page is "Failing hard drive sounds', but all of these drives have already failed :)
Because of all the different models made by a manufacturer, they all make different noises depending on what the failure is and the construction of the drive.
For example, at the moment I have a Seagate 500GB 7200.11 with a stuck motor spindle. It gives the usual bzzz bzzz bzzz as the motor tries to spin up, but fails. On that website, if you play the 'Seagate desktop drive with seized spindle trying to spin up' noise, it sounds nothing like it. So I wouldn't say the recodings on that site are 100% accurate, but fun to listen to nonetheless.

Thanks for the link, I think I have failing heads on one of my seagate drives.

Just for interest's sake, this is what a head can look like when it fails. This is a drive I got in this week where the slider has lifted right off. This is the kind of damage it does to the platter (ie. data).

Out of the list of noises listed in the OP link, the last one, 'Fujitsu 40gb desktop drive with bad media making scratching noise' is closest to what something like this sounds like. Had the customer brought the drive to me when it failed, instead of running it trying to get data off, it wouldn't have been such a mess. So...if you hear any unusual mechanical sounds, power it off ASAP!
