Hard drive swap to SSD

Hi guys. I want to replace my HDD to an SSD. Please see attached photo. Is this a SATA 3 drive? Will the following attachment on Takealot work as a replacement drive. The laptop is an HP probook i5 with 16gig ram.

Rather go Crucial.
They are 100% compatible, reliable and fast.
I only use them for all SSD's and memory.

Yes, all you need is a 2.5" SATA SSD but I would not go with those budget WD ones, I would go with Samsung.

But if money is tight they would be fine, go with WD blue, green is kak.
 
The blue one should work fine, and is a little more robust than the green range.
 
I went with the cheapest SSD I could find on Takealot a year ago for my i5 4th gen PC, it is blazing fast now, boots up to Windows in 30 seconds, and I have about 80 games installed (on old school spinning harddrives d: e: f: g:)
Windows on C: on SSD is the mutts nuts

Out of those two the blue is the better one.
 
Greens will last plenty long in average desktop usage,i'd be more brand conscious and check the type of cells used (which pushes the price obviously)
TRIM wear levelling works best if you dont fill your disk to the brim and do heavy writes permanently

same setup as you, have games and movies on spinning pieces of Metal, but OS where windows lives is SSD,
OP, use a disk cloning software (acronis) to make your life easier, clone your HDD to a SSD and then you don't need to deal with the licensing and re-installation issues that come up.

I wanna now exchange my old spiining drive at work for al cheapo SSD.
Only using 56GB on C:

Which cloning utility would you recommend on Windows 10? Tx
 
WD blue no problem. good luck cloning the drive if it isn't mbr though

I swear by Acronis true image, done all my swaps from HDD to SSD this way,
takes a while but its worth it, especially when Windows realizes it can stretch it legs and not be bogged down by slow HDD's.
 
Thanx guys, back in the day 2 and a bit decades ago I was using Norton Ghost on a daily basis when I worked at IBM but I am no longer in IT
 
can Acronis or Macrium Reflect free versions clone a gpt drive?
