Hi everyone. I have bought an SSD to replace a normal HDD for a laptop. Is there a way to copy whats on the HDD to the new SSD without having to reinstall the programs from the HDD. My daugher has a lot of stuff on her laptop and I really don't want to reinstall all these programs she has.

There are several cloning programs that will replicate exactly what is on the origin drive

AOEMI
O&O disk image
Mini tool partition wizard

A Samsung SSD I bought came with a program on. CD

That's not going to work as a clone of the partition unfortunately...
Why not? I did exactly that on Tuesday this week, cloning a 500GB Seagate disk to a Crucial 480GB disk. I used Macrium as mentioned a couple of times in this thread. It will only not work if the 500GB is filled to capacity, but the drive I cloned had about 280GB of spaced being used. I have video proof that the clone was done successfully plus a video of the laptop before the HDD was swapped with the SSD. The boot process went down from about two minutes to 22 seconds.
