Strange this... I'm trying to format (NTFS) a new windows Vista Fujitsu notebook using an XP professional CD. After booting up with XP CD, on the blue setup screen it say no harddisk is installed or detected, press F3 to restart PC... But when i re-boot (with XP CD ejected), the PC loads win Vista with no probs. Could it be that the manufacture has write protected XP installation? am confused here:confused:

Its because those laptops use SATA controller and the Windows XP disc doesnt have the drivers.Ive had the same problem. Those Laptops come built with Vista and hence you arent allowed to install WinXP on there.Dont bother phoning Siemens / Game / whoever. They wont help you with the WinXP recovery CD.The only way to fix this problem is to do the following ...

1.You need to make a customized WinXP disc with added Mass Storage support

2. Go to www.driverpacks.net download the application and all the driver databases including Mass Storage and Chipset drivers.Intergrate these drivers into a slipstreamed WinXP.IT WILL WORK

True this also read about it somewhere... The other suggestion is to copy the SATA drivers from the Driver CD to the floppy/stiffy disk & press F6 during XP setup. Problem is there isn't a folder with a name [SATA drivers] from the Drivers and utilities CD which came with this FUJITSU Siemens Amilo notepad.

Will try your suggestion though it sound a little more technical than i can handle!

Downloaded & extracted the two files, now how do i integrate? or what are the steps to take here...
