Harddrive Image Software?

Windows?
Try winpe + imagex

If you want sector copy I think theres an opensource version of ghost

Do you want to image the drive or clone it? There is a difference.

I've used clone-zilla, would recommend it, awesome program. Just for straight imaging where I don't mind power user interaction I just use dd. Versions of dd exist for all operating systems. It's even widely used in forensics because you can pretty much make a bit accurate image of any media (including RAM).

Yeah me too, been using it for ages ... think earlier versions were of free of charge, just not sure where to find it now.
Acronis True Image is not a free program and never has been. The latest version - Acronis True Image Home 2011 - can be bought for $49.99 with credit card off the Acronis website here. They also have corporate versions for servers and workstations, and even Linux, called Acronis Backup & Recovery 10. Local disti is Synapsys.
