laptop harddrive might be damaged due to static electricity. Now the drive is from a hp compaq nx6125 .THe lappie does not come on when the the drive is plugged in.You know watch funny the IT GUYdamaged it when he removed it...
Is it possible to recover the data from it....Or is the best bet to open it up and replace the circuit board with similar drive.

This client need to recover all the data from the 80 gig.Is there hope for me or should i really decline the repair and recovery:D.

Reason why i am asking this is because i dont usually work with laptop drives.

Yes, last shot is usually getting an identical HDD and swap the PCB's out, and copying everything first go off, because you might not get a 2nd chance.

phone a company who takes it apart man

they charge something crazy but they not to bad and if the data is very important and the client is well off whats 2k-4k for lost info?

Why not get one of those external USB hard drive enclosures and plug the drive into that?

Maybe it's not the drive thats damaged but the laptop circuits.

That's an excellent suggestion and worth a try, it might actually help.
