Long story short, building a NAS box ran out of hardrive bays, can I mount a hardrive sideways?
Since it's a spinning disk of death I am not totally convince this is a good idea :/

The same reason I never put my PS2, PS3 on its side. I always think the bearings will take more strain.

I replaced some of the 5.25" and early 3.5" MFM HDDs because of the noise they made although they were still OK otherwise ... long time ago thoughI have never heard of a harddrive with a bearing failure...
