Not really. Thats why you put it in a plastic bad & remove the air from it to shield the circuit board. Drives are sealed nowadays under low moisture conditions so no moisture inside irrespective of what you do temp wise.
I disagree. Drives are not totally sealed afaik, they all have a small hole for air intake that is filtered. It's not the exterior PCB that I'm principally worried about here.
The air inside of the drive will get cold in the freezer, the warming of the drive inside when it is under operation will cause condensation. Drives have some dessicant inside to protect against moisture, whether or not it will be enough is a gamble. Like I said before I wouldn't risk it with important data.
@kkza, what company did youir friend use so that we all know to avoid them?
The company that I posted say they will only charge you once data has been recovered afaik, so it looks like a much better deal.
