Would it be safe shipping an HDD from Amazon to SA without damage? Mass storage hard drives are way cheaper in the US even after shipping and taxes.

The thing with HDD's is if the packaging is good (Toshiba does the best I have ever seen) shipping is largely a non-issue. Most damage from impact occurs if the drive is running.

Yes it should be fine. If it arrives damaged you can complain to Amazon and they are very likely to refund you.
