Well the shop itself is nice - if inclined towards the very high end market segment - probably the reason they placed it in SW. But I question their viability tbh. The store that was there previously Stuttafords closed doors because it was too expensive.
It's probably one of those mentalities that go "well, they were happy to pay more for stuff than the rest of country so we don't really need to drop the prices". 
What is it with CPT and places charging more than the rest of the country? I think they think we're just tourists.

Stuttafords has to be one of the most ridiculously overprices stores there is.

Seriously Dion Wired is overpriced in KZN too and.probably Johannesburg. They ocassionally have a decent special offer but for the most part you should think of them as an upmarket Hifi Corp.

I see. it was their R1699 for a 2494H special that had me thinking they are exciting. Clearly it was a once-off.

Online is still the way to go if you're looking around for the best prices. Specials in retail stores ("loss leaders") are a way of getting you into the store and selling you more than you wanted in the first place. That's the art and science of retailing. People like us who are capable of putting their own rigs together, decide on the components they want and go out and get them. Mr Average doesn't. That's how the big retail stores live. They're box movers and they have salespeople. If you get a good deal from them, go for it, because it's probably bought in bulk and probably out of production. I'll buy it if it's what I want, but accept that fact.
But, I wouldn't generally expect to see great prices from a retail store because of the rents and overheads.
I hear you on that. The sad thing about how these stores operate is that the suppliers are also affected.
I have spoken to some product distributors regarding us smaller resellers trying to compete with the ads placed by the large retail stores. People see these ads and expect us to compete in pricing. Well, what the distributor told me is that they often get massive orders from the retail stores, good enough to offer the product at a massive discount because of the volume. The unfortunate part of it is that at large volume the payment terms are offset, i.e. payment happens later. When that time comes around, however, the store buyer says that only part of the quantity was sold and the rest they'd like to return. This leaves the distributor sitting with older stock or stock whose price has dropped over time leaving less of a profit margin.
I hope that makes sense.

It's not the people we buy from dictating that, but we indicate that if you want to sell to us then we require 30 day payment. Bought a Samsung 2494HS at Dions Wired today (The Grove - cnr Simon Vermooten and Lynwood rd, PTA) for R1799 - was not advertised at all.
I went there previously (about a month ago) when it was advertised for R1699 but were 'all sold out at all branches'. Today it was there on the shelf marked for R1799...so I took one

I don't think I saw it on the Somerset special brochure but even if it's not on special, R1700incl is a great price for a 24" Sammy.
Pity the retards at Dion Wired Centurion didn't get back to me when it WAS on special.

I've had INSANE issues with PCZone in the past... I would strongly recommend NOT buying from them... Read here for my Unlucky Experience
Another thing.. they only have 1Year warranty (on Everything, unless specified), so for that Samsung 1.5TB, you should be getting 3-5Years... which PCZone aint gonna give you!
I've had problems with their Motherboards, Hard Drives, Cases.... and more.

Zones do not give two flyings about the warranty, if the manufacturer gives a 5 yr warranty, Zones will honour it by returning it to the supplier who will then fix it or replace it.
I read your "scam" post... yes there is something to worry about, but they are not a scam, they are legit etc etc etc...
