Kalahari ran a special on this a few weeks back. Just keep an eye on their Deal of the Day on a daily basis. Bound to happen again sometime soon.

hdmi on that monitor comes in handy when you have a device that uses HDMI, like a media player (Mede8er) connects directly to the monitor. As for my PC connection, I use DVI. Only difference is HDMI comes with sound, while DVI is video only. On PC DVI is perfect. For a multimedia 720p/1080p device, HDMI is magic

Ya so if i plugged my monitor via hdmi into my 9800gx2 would that give me sound as well as a better picture on .mkv files and 720 rips?

I don't think it would give you better image quality. If you want the sound to play through your monitor via HDMI you'd also need to attach a cable from the FP audio header on your mobo to the card as nVidia cards don't have built in "sound cards"

not necessarily better picture, Hi def is hi def, cant get any better than that, but yes, u should then have the accompanying sound via HDMI, its your choice how u wish to get your sound. I still prefer video and sound seperate though. Sound goes to amp and video to the screen, my preference

just realized these will never ever go on any decent sale, because they such nice monitors, ppl are buying them with no specials in play, so C R A P!!

True, but I would've hoped that with influx of the newer 24" model (I'm forgetting the model number now) that the 2494HS would've come down, but that's not been happening.
