I also cannot find the product on the site. I just got a plain email, went looking on their site for the screen but all I found was that GIF banner advertising the 27" that runs on the side of their home page...

How do you get emailed specials like that from various sites? Is there a newsletter?

I have registered with them (Buy247) and bought some stuff there in the past, must have signed up for their newsletter during one of those steps.
Buying from online shops seems to offer the right for them to bombard you with spam for eternity thereafter. There should be an opt out option somewhere during the transaction process, but sadly this generally overlooked.
Anyone know if this deal is real or not?

Seems the price was an error. It's on the site now at R2 867, exactly R1000 more than the price in the advertisement that was sent in the mail, so probable a typo.

Yeah they emailed me back and said it was a typo.
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesnt that constitute false advertising?
