Nivo got the 16GB microSD Class6 at R339 again! And also...
Huawei K3565 3.6mbps HSDPA modem - R369 @ HiFi Corp - not bad. Best price I've seen on these babies.
 
I was interested in the Transcend 16GB MicroSD card.... but I contacted Rectron (who is the sole Transcend importer), and their price was R599 (ex VAT). When I queried why their price was much higher than at Nivo, they said there are lots of fake Transcend products on the market in SA.

I also contacted rectron, JHB, their price is R269 ex vat. Any of these online retailers even daring to sell fake goods will land themselves in more trouble than they could handle...

Hectic - I'll try contact the JHB branch then...

Strange, the prices in the US at Amazon and New Egg are +/- $70 which is similar to the CPT Rectron Price.

Reason for the price they gave me (via proxy) was "to get rid of old stock". I'm not complaining.
 
Just came from Makro Centurion now and they have special prices on most of their PS3 games.
 
I am sure it a price reduction that has recently come through from the manufacturer to Rectron.

Howcome some sell for R2700 ish and others R5300+? Simple, recent price reduction from intel just not reflected on some sites yet.

If only I had been a little more patient and waited for Dbn Rectum's new pricelist which they are "still working on". And FFS why don't they do the i7-950?

I think the article was referring to the traditional memory sticks.

I just phoned Rectron JHB, and the price of R269 is for the Class 2... not the Class 6. The Class 6 is R599.

So it does still look like Nivo is too good to be true...???
 
The plot thickens....

I have emailed Nivo and asked the question, no reply as of yet.

Edit: Got an answer and indeed they claim it's from Rectron, now just to see if it is indeed a Class 6 when it arrives, or to wait for the "Oh dear..." follow-up email from them :)

Will do. Status indicates it's not shipped yet, so won't be until next week before I receive it, so there is still room for the "oops we/supplier made a mistake" email.

Their 01/09/2010 pricelist still had this:

Prices/stock levels/products changes from moment to moment... Maybe NIVO jumped in back then and bought a bunch? Just strange that NIVO/Sybaritic/Zaps etc etc all have this price.

I'll check what I receive from NIVO next week... :love:

It is a hit and miss. Sometimes they create your account fastfast, other times, not so much. Patience - you got to have some.
